About this artwork

A new painting by the artist of a scene from Paris, in the area of Montmartre at night with a glimps of the dome and spire of the church of Sacré-Cœur in the background set against a starry sky. The emphasis is on light and the swirling night sky overhead painted using lots of rich blues, violets and purples. It's painted in the artist's distinctive style with a bold use of colour, and some vibrant detail to achieve a stimulating emotional effect.… It is painted in acrylics and occasionally inks on compressed wooden fibreboard and was completed in April 2022.

Michael Gutteridge is a British painter whose works have been extensively exhibited throughout the United Kingdom. His cityscapes combine diverse influences and involve spontaneous forms of distortion expressed via color, proportion, perspective, and an incongruous juxtaposition of styles. Often, Gutteridge endeavors to convey existentially disorientating feelings as well as other types of emotion and general sensual vibrancy. He creates using acrylics and ink on wood.
