About this artwork

An aerial painting by the artist of a street in the older part of the Town of Stockport in North West England with a distorted perspective that enables more detail to be included. At the end of the road is Robinson's Brewery that creates many well-regarded, by the artist anyway, beers. There is lots of incidental detail, especially in the various figures. The painting is in one wooden compressed fibreboard using acrylic paints and some ink, and was… painted for an exhibition in the town in 2014.

Michael Gutteridge is a British painter whose works have been extensively exhibited throughout the United Kingdom. His cityscapes combine diverse influences and involve spontaneous forms of distortion expressed via color, proportion, perspective, and an incongruous juxtaposition of styles. Often, Gutteridge endeavors to convey existentially disorientating feelings as well as other types of emotion and general sensual vibrancy. He creates using acrylics and ink on wood.
