About this artwork
I painted this moment the fading sunset over moving water. I wasn’t trying to capture the surface, but was constantly rewriting the world above it in small, restless strokes. Thick paint and the palette knife creates texture to convey the texture of rippling water. Warm gold spreads and breaks apart, then cool blues gather at the edges, and the ducks and grasses in the lower half are my quiet anchors—small presences that make the scale of the shimmer…
feel lived-in. when everything is changing but nothing is urgent—when the water holds the sky for a second, then lets it go.
