The Square symbolises stability, fixed nature of matter, strong foundations and order. Looking at squares inspires these and can make you feel safe.
The squares in the image could be balloons that are released, either up or down (on rotation of the artwork). Perhaps they contain things that you want to release, or perhaps things that you are holding on to. It all depends on whether you release… the string or not.

Monique J Dufour is a Canadian self-taught artist based in Spain, who has exhibited her work throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Whilst on a trip to France in 2013, she picked up a paintbrush and never looked back, now busying herself daily with her luminous, intriguing abstract compositions.
