This is the Aphrodite I wanted to paint — not the goddess of softness, but the goddess of what softness conceals. The power that doesn't need to raise its voice. The presence that fills a room before it enters.
The panther's eyes are the only warmth in the darkness. That was intentional.
Everything else — the marble, the… shadow, the barely-there boundary between black and colour — exists to make you lean closer. To make you wonder what you almost saw. What you almost understood.
Is it a colour painting? Almost monochrome? The answer shifts each time you look. Like beauty itself — never quite what you expected, never quite finished revealing itself.
This painting doesn't explain itself.
