About this artwork
The elemental cruciform shape that evolved in the development of work for the British Council Greece exhibition 'Balkan Earth' is here used to explore the notion of 'cutting', both into the landscape, but also into oneself, a concept echoed in the physical process of making the work, both in the creation of positive and negative shapes, but also in the act of cutting into and erasing marks on the picture plane itself.

Nick Malone originally supported himself with an academic career in writing before leaving this sector to become a full time artist. He earned an MA in Fine Art from Central St Martins and has been focusing on his art ever since.
