About this artwork
This painting captures a simple pause – the kind that happens before you even think about it. I was walking under the bridge at Ochota in Warsaw when the structure stopped me: the angles of the concrete, the light hitting the snow, the quiet geometry of a place people usually ignore. The decision to paint it came fast, almost automatic.
The brushstrokes are loose and direct, not planned. From a distance the scene feels solid, almost literal, but… up close the surface breaks apart – colours slip into each other, the form starts to drift. I like that shift between clarity and blur.
For me, this piece is about attention – noticing what normally disappears in the background. It’s a way of staying with small things and looking closely at simple things.
