About this artwork
A block of poplar wood was worked into a round shape and a very large hole was made through it. Using milling cutters and carving chisels, I expanded the cavity to a wall thickness of approx. 2 cm on the outer wall. Special branch features in the outer wall were left as "ear-like outgrowths" and put on display. As a final act, the entire surface was perforated with approx. 1800 holes. The aim was to contrast the two huge main holes with the drilling…
fields. The work is intended to tempt you to look in and through holes and at the same time to compare the overall shape. Due to its lightness, the work can also be placed hanging on a nylon cord.
