About this artwork
The work "Nummulit" reflects my fascination with the elliptically shaped fossilized single-cell organisms that I found in quarries as a child. An ancient oak block was hollowed out with a chainsaw and carving chisel. The surface lines were laid out like spiral wedges. Holes are made at regular intervals to highlight the thin-walled hollow body. The work enriches rooms both as a wall object and when placed on a pedestal or hanging freely.
