About this artwork
In keeping with the series' theme, the silhouette of a section of a Californian black walnut tree was first slightly "harmonized." In the next step, the front and back were perforated freehand with offset sawing circles. In the gaps, there are holes of decreasing diameter. During this phase, it was important to me that the two hole fields of the respective view did not touch each other. The most important process for me was the lateral chainsaw cuts,…
approximately three to five centimeters wide all around. By tilting the saw blade slightly at an angle, thin overlaps with openings were created, which are clearly visible, especially through the large, frontal hole fields. Natural cracks in the wood were filled with a mixture of wood dust and resin. The work looks fantastic dangling in front of glass panes, but also as a wall object or placed on a pedestal.
