A cathedral, built to anchor heaven to earth, survives here as an inverted apparition: columns dissolved, cornices frayed, gravity briefly reversed.
The cobbles at the edge act like torn margins; the rain edits the monument into a sentence of light and wavering ink.
Substance is offstage; surface carries the weight.
The image turns the puddle into a sovereign plane… where scale, age, and authority are negotiated anew.
A building meant to outlast weather is now authored by it. Every ripple is a small revision; every settling of water, a decision about what remains legible.
This reversal feels human.
Identity is often held less by what is “there” than by what is reflected back: by memory, rumor, faith.
