About this artwork
The Phoenix
The Phoenix was born from a breath. The breath of a cycle ending to better give way to life.
At the heart of this work, a figure stands in contemplation, arms clasped around itself. It is both vulnerable and powerful, like a heart protecting itself in order to be reborn. This gesture of introspection, almost meditative, is an invitation to reconnect with oneself, with one's essence, with that inner light that never truly fades.
… Around her, wings unfold, teeming, vibrant, alive. They are made of a thousand fragments, of materials and colors, like the ashes of an ancient fire transformed into gold. Each touch, each layer of paint evokes this movement of metamorphosis, this energy that is reborn, again and again, in another form.
Worked with oil and knife, magnified by resin and touches of gold leaf, this character is reborn from its ashes.

Omphale Forhan is a painter and art therapist, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Blois, with degrees in Art History and Cultural Mediation, and a passion for textiles and haute couture. She works with oil paints applied with a palette knife, acrylics, collage, resin, and India ink, blending figuration and lyrical abstraction, sometimes adorned with gold leaf. A vibrant colorist, she explores sensuality, identity, the sacred, movement, and the universality of the body, creating works where the power of emotions is embodied in matter, triggering a profound and poetic resonance in the viewer.
