study of quantum light inspired the unique modern wall sculpture that captures and holds ambient light. It features a high-contrast background of horizontal black and white stripes of varying thicknesses. These lines are interrupted by intentional shifts and "glitches," creating a sense of vibration even in the flat areas.
Arranged in a large central circle are several clear, conical resin protrusions. These 3D elements act as lenses, refracting… the linear pattern beneath them. The result is a series of swirling, warped distortions that transform the rigid lines into organic, circular movements. Depending on the viewing angle, the cones also catch the light to reveal iridescent, rainbow-like chromatic aberrations.
The minimalist black and white palette emphasizes the "quantum" shifts in light and colour that occur only through the resin cones
Peta Jacobs is a visual artist with a background in textiles, whose art unfolds through innovative mixed-media and kinetic installations and artworks. Her technique combines abstract geometric forms and post-digital optics, using optical materials from scientific experiments to create works that shift and reconfigure as the viewer moves. She infuses her art with metaphysical investigations into duality, interconnectedness, and uncertainty, inviting viewers into playful yet profound encounters that evoke a sense of wonder at the intrinsic wholeness of reality.
