About this artwork
I know those days. When the Calima arrives, the warm wind carries Saharan dust across the sea to the island. The light becomes heavy and golden, the contours blur, the air tastes of warm dust and salt. I love this subdued… glow, in which the island lies for a few days as if encased in amber.
This warmth is inherent in the material. Thin glazes of pigment, ink, and rust lie over slaked lime and marble dust. As it dries, the surface cracks on its own; the fine cracks run across the surface like parched earth after a hot summer.

Her painting is abstract. The island is not a subject, but a condition – light, silence, heat, the vastness of sky and sea.
Her development was self-taught, but not unguided: several years of instruction with Tomasz Piwarski, a master student of Rissa (Düsseldorf Art Academy).
Exhibitions include Copelouzos Family Art Museum, Athens; Museum of Sóller; Mallorca, Nit de l'Art in Palma, Ses Salines, Llucmajor., Mallorca.
