About this artwork
Rhinos are the largest land mammals, second only to elephants. They are easily recognized by their massive body, their short legs and the presence of one or two characteristic horns perched on their muzzle. They allow them to protect and defend themselves. But they are also, alas, one of the factors which gradually leads to their downfall.
Indeed, in Asia, the rhinoceros horn, to which pseudo therapeutic virtues are attributed, is very popular.… The demand is inexhaustible, despite all the prohibitions, and to meet it poaching is constant. (Source WWF)

« Painting and creation, in general, are the best ways to deliver what words cannot say. »
Philippe Abril is an award-winning French painter who has exhibited in both solo and group events nationally. Within his works, he conveys his amazement of having ‘landed on this fabulous planet’. Abril’s naive narrative paintings are mostly made using acrylics, as its fast drying qualities give him the freedom to mix other mediums more easily.
