About this artwork
Pia Andersen is continuing to experiment with different types of oil pastel on paper.
The paper for this work is 300 g Schoellehammer . The paper itself adds to the structure of the image surface. It determines the light in the surface.
The image itself measures 23 x 33 cm, the paper 28 x 37 cm and the framed piece measures 41 x 50 cm.
Pia Andersen has decided to make a series of works reflecting the months of the year. This crispy blue surface… of a lake maybe bordering up to bushes still hanging on to dead leaves from last season as well as bringing the joy spring with clear green colors.

« My works are colorful, optimistic, vibrating, living with the changing daylight, and offering the spectator room to contemplate. I enjoy cooperating with specific commissions. »
Pia Andersen's works have been featured in solo exhibitions in her native Denmark, as well as in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, Norway, and Germany. Nature and light are her principal inspirations, though she does not seek its realistic portrayal. Instead, Andersen's paintings create a nature of their own, highlighting the positive side of living. Her artistic process is lengthy, as she takes her time building up many layers of oils on canvas.
