About this artwork
The series ATTITUDES deals with the differences between how things appear and what lies behind the appearances. It is a social commentary on the alienating reality that often lays behind the facade of beauty and harmony that society insists we cultivate and project in our daily lives. The series deals with beauty as something impure - the enemy of peace of mind and meaningful social interaction.

Navigating multiple mediums - moving from postgraduate studies in economic theory to a career as an internationally lauded photographer, conceptual new media artist and composer, canadian R. Scott MacLeay's career is richly varied. His artworks are marked by controlled yet spontaneous abstractions, stirred by his fascination for the unpredictability of interference, as he juxtaposes often-fragmented layers of figurative content, textures and colors.
