About this artwork
WAVELENGTH explored the absence and presence of movement from two perspectives: active stillness as opposed to passive immobility and involuntary pulsations/waves as opposed to deliberate displacements. Thematically, the series dealt with coded gestures, enigmatic messages and missed signals and the ambiguity / confusion they inevitably provoke.
The enigma of the exaggerated mouth coupled with the ambiguity of the gesture seeming to push a faded… green field of colour into the persons head is the collective embodiment of the themes of the series.

Scott MacLeay's career is richly varied.
