About this artwork
WAVELENGTH explored the absence and presence of movement from two perspectives: active stillness as opposed to passive immobility and involuntary pulsations/waves as opposed to deliberate displacements. Thematically, the series dealt with coded gestures, enigmatic messages and missed signals and the ambiguity / confusion they inevitably provoke.
In more sombre moments, I have always thought of life as a hold-up of sorts. We are up against the wall… without a credible effective means of defending ourselves. Often it is a psycholoical state of mind; at other times it is based on concrete fact.

Navigating multiple mediums - moving from postgraduate studies in economic theory to a career as an internationally lauded photographer, conceptual new media artist and composer, canadian R. Scott MacLeay's career is richly varied.
