About this artwork
WAVELENGTH explored the absence and presence of movement from two perspectives: active stillness as opposed to passive immobility and involuntary pulsations/waves as opposed to deliberate displacements. Thematically, the series dealt with coded gestures, enigmatic messages and missed signals and the ambiguity / confusion they inevitably provoke.
I have always been fascinated by the notion of compromise. Is it a form of voluntary surrender - the… giving up of a portion of what we consider important or is it simply a transactional strategy studied and prepared beforehand...both? Përhaps in many cases we are not aware of its full implications. This image explores the notion of partial surrender.
