About this artwork
WAVELENGTH explored the absence and presence of movement from two perspectives: active stillness as opposed to passive immobility and involuntary pulsations/waves as opposed to deliberate displacements. Thematically, the series dealt with coded gestures, enigmatic messages and missed signals and the ambiguity / confusion they inevitably provoke.
The meticulous positioning that the person has assumed suggests clarity. Nevertheless, the message of… the position remains ambiguous. Is it the precision itself or is it something related to the presence of stillness in the suggested movement? There is room for doubt…there is almost always room for doubt.
