About this artwork
In the series FRAGMENTS, I continued my exploration of alienation and social distance begun several years earlier in ATTITUDES. I focused on the physical and psychological fragmentation of images, repetition of various types and the exploration of edge tension between elements inside the image as well as on its outside borders. My colors, particularly warm tones became increasingly saturated.
This image is rather unique in the series. It is one of… the few images of an unfragmented body. I was curious about the potential of different, but complementary gestures to generate the sensation of floating to suggest a different psychological dimension – a gentle fragmentation of space and time.
