About this artwork
WAVELENGTH explored the absence and presence of movement from two perspectives: active stillness as opposed to passive immobility and involuntary pulsations/waves as opposed to deliberate displacements. Thematically, the series dealt with coded gestures, enigmatic messages and missed signals and the ambiguity / confusion they inevitably provoke.
All interpersonal communication is vibration of one variety or another. Passive immobility does not imply… a lack of communication. Abstract sound is a strong and viable form of interaction. Are are we dealing with two different, yet similar, persons or the same person in different incarnations or dimensions. In so many ways, we are all the same person attempting desperately to communicate with ourselves.

Navigating multiple mediums - moving from postgraduate studies in economic theory to a career as an internationally lauded photographer, conceptual new media artist and composer, canadian R. Scott MacLeay's career is richly varied.
