About this artwork
Untitled II: Figures in Transition
"Sin Title II" is a work that explores the limits between abstraction and figuration. Using a distinctive transfer technique, an original painting is photographed and printed on paper, then transferred to canvas with gesso. A final touch of acrylic paint adds texture and depth.
In "Untitled II," the interplay of textures and shapes creates a dynamic scene that suggests movement and transformation. The work invites… the viewer to interpret the abstract figures, which appear to emerge and dissolve within the layers of paint and medium, evoking a sense of fleeting presence and constant change.
This piece is a visual meditation on the ephemeral nature of existence and identity, and seeks to provoke an emotional and reflective response in the viewer.
Raúl Lara is a Spanish artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in the United States, Portugal, France, and the United Kingdom. He describes his art as a search for the representation of who we are in contrast to what others see, in comparison with what we know about ourselves. Lara's recent figurative compositions explore identify and portray the interior self, as well as the self that is shown to others and the world.
