About this artwork
"Vultus IX" is a work that continues to explore the series of deconstructed portraits, where the transfer technique becomes the protagonist. The process begins with a traditional painting or drawing that is photographed, printed on paper and then transferred to the final canvas with gesso giving texture and depth. A touch of acrylic paint completes the work.
This piece addresses the duality of presence and absence, exploring how identity can be… simultaneously perceived and hidden. The fragmented appearance of the portrait reflects the changing and complex nature of the self, inviting the viewer to reflect on the visible and invisible aspects of their own existence.
