About this artwork

Some things are starting to be lost, combined, and reach extinction. The printed self-portrait focuses on being trapped in that one mindset. The printed image now acts as a blueprint of how one is seen even though as individuals
we change and evolve over the years. A frozen image in time and space, trapped in a specific representation forever. The printed material is my representation of AI and the acrylic side acts as the physical being, an analog…
side. The solid painted figure has no features as they can change and evolve instead of being trapped in that frozen moment. The piece acts as a constant fight, attempts to merge, and at times attempts at harmony between AI and its analog counterpart.
I have been awarded 2 separate awards for this piece.

I received the “Woman Award 2024” Awarded by MUSA International Award Ceremony in Barcelona, Spain and “Top Artists, The Protagonists Of Contemporary Art Award”by Fondazione Effetto in Venice, Italy May 18, 2023.

Rika Maja Duevel is a painter/mixed media artist from Stavanger, Norway living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her artwork manifests from her daily experiences, capturing the moment through an introverted lens. A focus on her own female experience and the journey and deeper research into the concept of the Introverted Artist, the unseen soul. An award-winning artist and graduate of Wheaton College, SACI, and Lesley University she has exhibited in Amsterdam, Rome, Venice, Bologna, Naples, Florence, Milan, Barcelona, Granada, Paris, Seoul , Tokyo, and Buenos Aires. An Artist in Residence in Barcelona, Granada, Spain, Ardèche, France, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Guest Artist Lecturer at the University of Amsterdam’s Business School (UVA), published in the “50 Artists to Watch 2023” and “50 Artists to Discover 2025” by the Florence Contemporary Gallery, and named one of the “Top 30 Influential Women Entrepreneurs to Watch Out For in 2025” by NY Weekly Magazine.
