About this artwork
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN
After punk - my baptism into the joys of popular music - I was entranced by the late 1970s Liverpool scene, which yielded the groups Wah! (and its various derivations), The Teardrop Explodes and Echo & The Bunnymen.
All three were fronted by charismatic front men - respectively, Pete Wylie, Julian Cope and Ian McCulloch. Mac was the stand out, with his towering hair, large eyes and mellow croon.
The Bunnymen used a lot of animal… imagery in their songs, which I think is rather poetic. In this composition there's a dancing horse, a tortoise shell, crocodiles, a bunnyman and the birds from the cover of the LP, HEAVEN UP HERE.
One of the bands from my youth I still play frequently.
