About this artwork
Is it about the larger or the smaller piece? Which perspective is ours? After all, the color sky blue is available for both approaches – representing lightness, positive thinking, etc.
The fact is, everything seems to be nested within each other... perhaps even glued together?
If we now proceed from the outside in, as with the crux of the matter, it logically becomes smaller and narrower. But does that bring us any closer to the truth?
Conversely,… looking at it from the outside, there is an ever-larger area (which always contains, and thus essentially OWNS, the smaller ones), but which is ultimately limited by its outer boundaries. At least there doesn't seem to be any box, rectangle, entity, or similar that is even larger than the visible ones. So THAT is what we have—or so it SEEMS.
Who decides what goes in? Us? Not really, right? How about a mistake?
HEY, what's there for ME...?
The white shadow gap frame is a gift without warranty.
Rolf Lorenz works primarily with acrylic paints on canvas and brings a rich background in painting, film, and photography. His technique is experimental, blending a wide variety of materials and uniting classical painting with narrative elements. His style addresses political and social themes, which he powerfully commentates on and critically interprets. His works possess great emotional power: His art denounces injustices, shakes people up, and challenges the viewer to observe and reflect.
