IRGENDWER – a young man who looks toward the future with both seriousness and anticipation. IRGENDWER (Oil on Paper , mounted in wood) can be anyone: a lover, friend, brother, grandson, son, or already a young father. What will be?
Roman Harasymiw is an artist with Ukrainian roots. Born in 1957 in Kaufbeuren, he studied from 1980 to 1987 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the class of Professor Franz Bernhard Weißhaar. In 1984 he was promoted as master student and technical assistant.
First sacred works in public spaces were created whilst he was a student. He developed a diverse artistic practice spanning painting, photography and sculpture. In his artistic work he combines traditional knowledge with innovative approaches with techniques such as his self-invented Sedilumpintography, image fusions, and light etchings.
His work moves between realism and abstraction, and it unfolds its full impact in dialogue with the viewer.
He has received several awards, including the Cultural Prize of his hometown Kaufbeuren (2001) and the Art Prize of the city of Kempten (2016). In 2023, his artwork in the series of image fusions, LESERIN I, was acquired by the Art Collection of the German Bundestag in Berlin.
