About this artwork
I often cycle through a protected area with a small lake with barnacle geese.
They are beautiful birds and fun to watch, so one day the camera came out.
It looked so funny when the little goslings plopped into the water, maybe for the first time.
I had to paint some pictures. I chose to work with watercolor and quite naturalistic.
I usually only use 3 colors, a red, a blue and a yellow. Here I chose a French ultramarine, a burnt sienna and a raw… sienna + black for the neck.

Ruth Jensen is a figurative painter working with watercolor, oil, and acrylic, drawing upon her Danish artistic training. She skillfully navigates both the fluid unpredictability of watercolors and the layered contemplation of oils and acrylics, exploring themes from abandoned buildings to vivid portraits and nature. Through her art, she seeks to evoke the profound tension between perception and experience, inviting the viewer to connect with her personal vision of the world.
