About this artwork
The image unfolds like a quiet paradox between beauty and overwhelming complexity. At its center is the world, dissolved into seven doves, scattered across the space like continents. Doves, often symbols of peace, appear here both light and burdened – as if they have accepted the weight of the world without being able to escape it. Beneath them, a huge sack stretches through the sea. It is heavy, bulging with trash. But this sack doesn't simply hang… in nothingness; it is embedded in a luminous rainbow. The colors are intense, almost comforting, as if they were saying: This, too, is part of it. This, too, is allowed. The power of the image lies precisely in this contrast. The rainbow represents hope, acceptance, perhaps even a "yes" to life in all its facets. Yet what it encompasses is uncomfortable, chaotic, and difficult to bear. The image does not call for repression; on the contrary, it invites us to look at even the unpleasant.
Sandra Haase uses standard colored pencils on white cardboard and incorporates her background in personal development into her surreal paintings. She works with colorful, profound, and multi-layered compositions in which dream worlds and reality merge; her style invites individual interpretation. With her works, she aims to convey wisdom, peace, and moments of inner calm, inviting the viewer on an inward journey.
