About this artwork
The painting "Crazy Times" is rendered in shades of blue and green, creating a cool and mysterious atmosphere. In the upper left corner is a split eye, its halves shifted relative to each other. It appears alert yet unbalanced – a symbol that even perception has been distorted.
At the center of the image is a tree, which also seems to have been removed from its natural form. Its structure appears distorted, as if it has lost its footing in an ordered… world.
The water inlet on the left suggests that even life-giving elements are no longer in their proper place. A dove, a symbol of peace, is visible in the image, but it too is disoriented. This makes even the peace seem unstable.
Finally, a clock is depicted whose shape or position is distorted. It represents times that have lost their order.
Sandra Haase uses standard colored pencils on white cardboard and incorporates her background in personal development into her surreal paintings. She works with colorful, profound, and multi-layered compositions in which dream worlds and reality merge; her style invites individual interpretation. With her works, she aims to convey wisdom, peace, and moments of inner calm, inviting the viewer on an inward journey.
