About this artwork
The image "Deceleration" depicts a path from haste to pause. In the lower left, many feet crowd together, symbolizing stress, hurry, and restlessness – the pulse races, the pace fluctuates between high and low. To the right, the steps become calmer, the rhythm slows: the journey is the destination.
At the center is a clock whose hands form the arms of a reclining woman. It shows eleven, a moment that still allows time – a symbol for consciously… perceiving the present moment. Under the magnifying glass, the figure eight appears, a symbol of infinity and mindfulness.
A stop sign serves as a reminder to slow down the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A snail symbolizes a slower pace, while on the right side of the image, a peaceful mountain landscape offers a glimpse of tranquility and relaxation. In the lower right corner, a small woodland elf rests, surrendering to the moment – a symbol of perfect relaxation.
Sandra Haase uses standard colored pencils on white cardboard and incorporates her background in personal development into her surreal paintings. She works with colorful, profound, and multi-layered compositions in which dream worlds and reality merge; her style invites individual interpretation. With her works, she aims to convey wisdom, peace, and moments of inner calm, inviting the viewer on an inward journey.
