About this artwork
Boss la Rouge confronts structures of authority through a visceral, saturated visual language. Dominated by aggressive reds, fragmented typography, and glitch-like noise, the work stages a symbolic rebellion against imposed hierarchies and internalized power dynamics.
The repetition and distortion of the word “boss” becomes both accusation and deconstruction, questioning who holds power, who performs it, and who is subjected to it. Through visual… overload and disruption, the piece reflects the tension between control and resistance, echoing the ways language and systems can both define and confine identity.
Rooted in protest aesthetics, Boss la Rouge transforms anger into visibility. It asserts a refusal to comply, embodying a reclaiming of voice that is raw, unapologetic, and deliberately chaotic.

I’m Sar La Rouge, a Franco-Togolese digital artist based in Cape Town. My work combines photography, digital collage, and new technologies to explore how images influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us.
Using photographs from my personal archive, I create layered and colourful compositions that mix emotion, culture and identity. As a self-taught artist, I approach digital art freely and intuitively, always experimenting with new ways to create.
My work often touches on themes of femininity, technology, and contemporary society, while celebrating visibility, and self-expression.
Today, I continue to expand my practice through physical prints, immersive installations, video, and AI, using digital art as a space without limits.
