Im never ready for Spring! Most people can’t wait for Winter to be done, but I love Winter in Deep River Ontario. Snow and Ice is a body of work that comes from everyday adventures. This studio version of a plein air painted sketch, has been challenging but well worth the effort. This is early Spring and the river is waking up. The snow that covers the ice begins to melt and the runways of cross country skiers, snowshoers are revealed as dark… green slush. Then there are mile long pressure cracks that appear as green, blue slush, up and down river. As I was out trying to catch the sunrise, the river let out a loud haunting howl from under the ice layer. I did jump as it startled me.
BREAK of DAY, is a reminder to me that Gods mercies are new everyday.
Sheila McGregor is a painter with a background in acrylics, printmaking, fibre arts, and design, honed through dedicated study, residencies, and mentorship under Jane Bonnell. She paints en plein air and in the studio, using gestural sketches with pre-mixed complimentary palettes for spontaneity, and richly layered studio works for luminosity. Her style fuses visual art with the language and rhythm of music, weaving nature’s grandeur and negative space rhythms into each piece. Sheila’s art radiates hope and beauty, offering viewers encouragement and comfort, especially for those navigating life’s challenges.
