About this artwork
The overcast day has set the mood and with a slight winter breeze, I quickly set up my easel. The anticipation of possibilities can be overwhelming, until, I begin to focus on the figure like pine trees. No matter the day or season of my returning again and again. the figures express a different pose and gesture.

Sheila McGregor is a painter with a background in acrylics, printmaking, fibre arts, and design, honed through dedicated study, residencies, and mentorship under Jane Bonnell. She paints en plein air and in the studio, using gestural sketches with pre-mixed complimentary palettes for spontaneity, and richly layered studio works for luminosity. Her style fuses visual art with the language and rhythm of music, weaving nature’s grandeur and negative space rhythms into each piece. Sheila’s art radiates hope and beauty, offering viewers encouragement and comfort, especially for those navigating life’s challenges.
