About this artwork
I drew a face made of hollowed-out lines: the oil paint has engraved my shadows and blurred my hopes. I breathe slowly, held, as if each breath were a hypothesis about tomorrow. My eyes don't look outward, but beyond, seeking a light that hasn't yet revealed itself; my heavy eyebrows tell of sleepless nights. My mouth is a shadow that hasn't decided whether to speak or remain silent, and my chin bears the weight of what has been. The lines are rapid,…
sometimes gentle, sometimes violent: the hand that created me was both hasty and merciful. I feel the paper beneath me, the smell of black, the memory of gestures that still vibrate. I await tomorrow as one awaits an uncertain guest: with hope and with the fear that everything will remain the same. But deep down I know that every line can change, that a new stroke is enough for my gaze to find its light.
