About this artwork
Albedo grew from my fascination with transformation and the way light reshapes our perception of landscape. Inspired by the Andes of Argentina and the Iguazú Falls, I imagined a world where mountains, water, fire and sky exist in quiet balance. Working across two panels, I composed the painting as a journey from left to right, moving from the cool blues of approaching dusk towards increasing luminosity. while on the right a hummingbird emerges, illuminated by a hidden source of light. Flames rise through the composition as waterfalls disappear into shadow below, creating a dialogue between opposing elements. Through layered colour and expressive mark-making, Albedo reflects my ongoing interest in memory, imagination and symbolic landscape, inviting viewers into a place that lies between observation and invention.
