About this artwork
I began this painting in 2024 and only recently brought it to completion. Hojas—Spanish for “leaves”—refers to the petal-like forms scattered across the composition, seemingly drawn towards a black void by an invisible gravitational pull. Behind the woodpecker, a rainbow emerges through the clouds, introducing a moment of brightness and renewal. I wanted the work to evoke a sense of the surreal and dreamlike, as if caught between the forces of nature…
and imagination.
