About this artwork
During the Middle Ages, a very brave and strong fox lived in a small village near Siena. In that same village, however, also resided a duke who wanted to build a castle there. It is said that the fox fearlessly attacked even the strongest knights by spitting fire and lightning from its mouth, despite this the duke, one night, still managed to capture and kill the noble beast so as to be able to build that much desired castle. However, the town magician…
warned the duke and told him that the castle would last as long as the fox's fur. Concerned by this prophecy, the duke decided to embalm the fox filling it with gold and even today, on the night of the full moon, you can see a golden fox running in the woods.
To create this painting I was inspired by this story in this painting we see the fox with a halo around his head in honor of his strength of his courage.
