About this artwork
Aligned was born out of a need for clarity – not for perfection, but for alignment.
The white lines move within clearly defined segments. They become denser, change direction, and converge again – without leaving the frame. Each area follows its own internal dynamic, yet an overarching balance emerges.
I'm interested in the moment when limitation doesn't restrict, but rather focuses energy. Red embodies this tension: warm, present, physical –… yet controlled. Nothing is accidental. And nothing tips over.
Aligned brings structure to a room without appearing cold. Especially in minimalist, architecturally clean interiors, it enhances rhythm and character rather than being mere decoration.
This work appeals to people who like intensity – as long as it is guided.
It's not a loud image. But it's present.
Sophie Lehniger works primarily with acrylics and oil pastels on untreated canvas, drawing on her background in law and art history for her artistic practice. Using techniques such as layering, condensation, and reduction, she develops abstract forms characterized by repetition, variation, and visible traces of manual intervention. Her works radiate a profound tranquility and inner tension, inviting viewers to experience moments of pause and focused perception without offering a definitive resolution.
