About this artwork
“Parts” consists of four individual fields that together form a coherent structure.
Within each field, the lines develop in different ways. Some run calmly and parallel, others begin to condense, rotate, or fan out. This creates four distinct movements within the same formal language.
What interests me is how small changes can create big differences. Although the works were created side by side, each field develops its own rhythm and its own… tension.
Together, the four parts resemble fragments of a larger landscape of lines and movements.
Each panel measures 20x20cm.
This work is part of my series Bounds, in which I explore how visual structures emerge within clear boundaries.
Sophie Lehniger works primarily with acrylics and oil pastels on untreated canvas, drawing on her background in law and art history for her artistic practice. Using techniques such as layering, condensation, and reduction, she develops abstract forms characterized by repetition, variation, and visible traces of manual intervention. Her works radiate a profound tranquility and inner tension, inviting viewers to experience moments of pause and focused perception without offering a definitive resolution.
