About this artwork
This painting reflects my interest in how structure and emotion coexist, using the tiered fountain as a symbol of renewal and continuous flow while surrounding it with organic, dreamlike forms that blur the boundaries between water, foliage, and imagination. The vibrant purples, pinks, and shifting hues transform the fountain from a literal object into an inner landscape, where color becomes a language for intuition and movement. By contrasting the… fountain's architectural stability with the fluid, swirling environment around it, the work evokes a sense of transformation and invites the viewer into a contemplative space where the familiar becomes fantastical and the flow of water mirrors the cyclical nature of thought and feeling.
Stephen Linsteadt expresses transformative themes on canvas through oil. His approach involves intentional brushstrokes, mindful of color, pattern and surprises in creation. His works act as bridges, balancing between conscious and unconscious realms, reflecting a deeply spiritual, introspective dialogue.
