About this artwork
The painting is about the regrets that I live with about tragic things that have happened in my life that I know I cannot change. My sister died when I was 7 years old, while the last time I saw my father he was curled up in bed facing the wall, unable to rise to say goodbye to me. I moved to California the next day and a few months later he committed suicide. These events have clearly shaped my life. What would life be like if these things…
hadn't happened? Would my path have been different? Would I have become an artist? I don't know. There remains an abstract quality to both my sister and my dads deaths; one because I was so young and I can't really remember her; the death of my father because I was living nearly 6000 miles away and never said goodbye.
