About this artwork
The works "Red Earth 01" and "Red Earth 02" draw the viewer into a world where the forces of nature, fire and earth, meet in an intense visual fusion. Both images capture the essence of "red earth" brought to life by the heat of fire. The bright red tones radiate in an almost mineral texture reminiscent of the glowing layers of deep earth, while the fire melts through the pigments and gives them a crystalline surface.
The texture created by fire… gives the surfaces a vibrant depth that shimmers differently depending on the light. This reinforces the feeling that the works are in a constant state of flux. It is as if the heat of the earth breaks through the canvas and the viewer witnesses a moment of creative earthquake where the elements collide in their rawest form.
Born in Austria, I discovered my passion for the art of engraving and steel engraving early on, a passion later expanded through the transformative power of fire in my Burningpictures. Using mixed media on linen, wood, and ceramics, I employ fire as a central design element. In my Burningpictures, I reveal the hidden secrets of nature and invite the viewer to experience the ever-changing interplay of light, color, and texture. The fire creates a magical visibility of the invisible—a powerful and liberating transformation.
