This picture is part of a series in which I experiment with surfaces. This sandstone-like structure that was created in this picture differs from other works in that it lacks a scale and no obvious function can be recognized. Thomas Johannsmeier is an experienced painter and a draftsman whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Russia, the Netherlands, and France. In his compositions, classical portaits are taken out of their contexts and contrasted with elements of modern art, which consists of monochrome colors, graffiti, photos, patterns, or quotations from other images.
