"DuneRunners" is part of my series on the desert landscapes of Namibia, inspired by a trip I took in 2024. The work depicts a group of people moving across the crest of a dune—their shadows long and striking, the sand crisscrossed with traces of previous paths.
The strong color field of the glowing red, combined with the cool blue of the sky, creates a visual tension between… heat and lightness, effort and vastness.
The image tells of being on the move, of trying to find our bearings in a seemingly endless landscape – and at the same time of the inner strength with which we continue on our way.
A meditative work about people, nature and leaving traces.
