About this artwork
Three spatula strokes set one after the other. Using the same spatula three times creates three unequal surfaces. Each of them is differentiated differently and yet all three convey something textile, material, something rising in the wind, seems to be fluttering in motion.
Thin cords that connect everything stand in contrast to the wide areas, which also contain thin lines that look like old scraps of fabric. No line too many, no area too little.… The flat white paper as the carrier and base becomes the space and the apparently so lightly set surfaces appear plastic and realistic.
This work is a response to the work "Flattern im Wind" and continues the series Paper Works Red on White.

The German artist Uwe Beyer, born in 1959, lives in Coswig, near Dresden, and in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (1988–1993). Uwe Beyer's paintings emerge more from mindfulness than from control. The material is allowed to move, resist, and settle. Form is not imposed but develops organically—stabilizing briefly before dissolving back into openness. Each work exists in a tension between presence and withdrawal, density and emptiness. It exists as a self-contained object while simultaneously eluding complete visibility. Instead of composing images, his practice creates the conditions for their emergence. These paintings do not represent the world.
They reveal the conditions under which form – and thus reality – comes into being. What remains is not an image, but a trace of becoming.
