About this artwork
I gave this work, "Mother is My Sky," its intensity through acrylic paint. This medium allowed me to apply saturated colors: the vibrant pink of the sofa, the greens and yellows of the child, which celebrate life with speed and brilliance.
I sought the contrast between the quiet strength of the mother and the pure energy of the child. He is not simply carried, he is nurtured, seeking his mother's laughter and gaze.
"Mom is My Sky" is my metaphor… for maternal love. I have frozen the moment when affection defies gravity, making the mother the universe of support, security and unwavering joy for her child.

I am a self-taught visual artist of Cameroonian nationality, I paint the human condition through childhood, resilience, resistance and identity are my favorite themes. My style mixes realism, comic book illustration, narrative figuration and borrowings from art history, creating a dreamlike and emotional universe. Trained at the Kanganyam Viking workshop in Douala, I have been exhibiting around the world since 2009, including a solo at the Sakhile Me gallery in Germany in 2021 with "Stolen Childhood". I represented Cameroon at the 7th Francophone Games in Nice in 2013 and won several awards, including the UNRISD prize in 2023. My works are featured in prestigious collections, such as the Gandur Foundation for Art and the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth. Since 2020, I have been represented by the Sakhile Me gallery based in Frankfurt, Germany.
