About this artwork
The Münstermaifeld collegiate church is just a few metres from my house. It was built in a transitional style from Romanesque to Gothic. I love it, I drew it as a teenager. Later I gave church tours and took part in the "Studio in the Church" several times. That makes it very familiar to me. In late summer, when the choir shines in the sunlight, an almost Mediterranean flair spreads across our church square. The building materials for the church…
were obtained from parts of the previous buildings that stood on this site. That's why the stone blocks all have their own "face". I only noticed this beauty when I was painting. And please count the slates on the roof. Each one is carefully painted (= lifetime!).
